As Geelong prepares to welcome the opening of the new Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, another major milestone is taking shape just minutes away - signalling a new era for large-scale business events in the region.

GMHBA Stadium’s Higher Mark precinct is undergoing a transformation, with its largest event space, the Presidents Room, currently being completely refurbished to elevate both form and function for the MICE market.

For event planners, the scale speaks for itself. Higher Mark is able to accommodate up to 800 delegates for conferences, 1,000 guests for gala dinners, and as many as 2,450 attendees for cocktail events - positioning it as one of the most versatile large-capacity venues in regional Victoria.

The refurbishment introduces a refined contemporary aesthetic, with new carpeting, bespoke timber detailing and upgraded furnishings across indoor and outdoor areas. But the most significant evolution sits behind the scenes - enhanced audio-visual infrastructure featuring larger screens, high-pixel projectors and an intuitive, flexible system designed to support seamless event delivery at scale.

More than just a venue upgrade, the transformation reinforces Geelong’s growing capability to host complex, high-volume business events across multiple landmark spaces. With Higher Mark's President Room reopen in July alongside Nyaal Banyul, the city is firmly stepping into a new league for conferences, gala events and incentive programs.

An industry open day will follow completion, offering planners a first look at the refreshed space and its expanded possibilities for future events.
